Frequently Asked Questions
Because nearly every print job is custom and requires its own pricing, I do not have a standard set of prices. The printing technique, type of paper, the number of colours, and a host of other variables dictate how I price a job. To give you an idea of prices:
A6 Letterpress Invitations start from $4.80 each (50x min. order)
Letterpress Business Cards start from $1.13 each (250x min. order)
We can print smaller quantities if needed. If you would like a free quote, please use our contact form to get in touch with any information you may have and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
What is the difference between embossing and debossing?
What colours can I choose from?
Letterpress: Presses your text or image into the paper either with or without ink. With letterpress you can only print one colour at a time and each different colour requires a seperate plate and new set up on the press hence why most clients go with 1 or 2 colours to keep costs down. We can also print without ink which is what we call "blind" and this costs the same as printing with ink as the set up costs are the same. Letterpress is good for medium to dark inks on white stock and if you are looking for a matt finish. Please see examples here.
Foil: Is applied with heat and actually attaches a layer of shiny metallic (or matt) foil to your item. Foil is good for doing light
colours on dark stock like white on black or if you are looking for a shiny finish. Please see examples here.
Can I keep my foil and letterpress plates?
What are my paper options?
What is the difference between foil and letterpress?
Yes you are more than welcome to keep your foiling block or letterpress plate/s once we have finished the printing. This usually applies to single run jobs eg wedding invitations. Any jobs that we will print more of in future eg business cards we like to keep as the plates can be used over and over many times saving you money on reprints.
How much does it cost?
Embossing is when your text or image is pressed outwards eg raised above the surface of the paper. Debossing is pressed inwards eg below the surface of the paper.
Letterpress: There are a lot more colours available than foil as we mix ink colours by hand using the Pantone system. We have a Pantone pdf of all our colours available, just email us and we will send it to you to choose your colour/s from.
Foil: We carry the standard colours of gold, silver, rose gold, copper, bronze , black and white. Other colours are available to order though so just ask.
Can you diecut, perforate, number and crease too?
Yes we can.
Can I get envelopes too?
Letterpress: We mainly use Crane Lettra 100% Cotton stock which
is especially made for letterpress printing. This is available in
300gsm and 600gsm thickness and comes in either Pearl (warm white) or Fluro (bright white). We do have other white, handmade, textured, coloured and kraft stock available to order though so
just ask.
Foil: We have found that foil works best on Colorplan stock. It
comes in 55 colours and multiple thickness'. Follow this link for
