5th Annual Los Angeles Printers Fair
THE HEIDELBERG PLATEN USED ON THE MOVIE "SEVEN POUNDS" WITH WILL SMITH
IN'N'OUT BURGER - YUM!!
My first trip to the US of A - so excited!!!
For the past 4 years the International Printing Museum in Carson, Los Angeles has opened it's doors for people from all over the country to come and set up a stall and sell their greeting cards, printing items, machinery and much much more.
This year was their 5th Annual Los Angeles Printers Fair and I was lucky enough to go over with the boss and his son to experience it.
The volunteers that work at the Museum all year round so were so friendly, welcoming and excited to have visitors come all the way over from New Zealand for their fair. They gave us a tour of the museum a couple of days before which was great - they have so much equipment including the Heidelberg Platen that was used in the movie "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith! It's great to see people keeping all the old machines and putting them on display for members of the public to be able to see, learn and print from and not be pulled apart into pieces, melted down or taken to the dump. They even let visitors print names on the Linotype machine to keep and make their own prints, it was great!
We all managed to pick up some bargains at the fair - some wooden type, a few tools of the trade and I even got to screenprint my own typography t-shirt.
Of course, I couldn't go all the way to Hollywood and not check out the sites and shopping - H & M, Forever 21, Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Boulevard, Disneyland and heaps more - California is awesome!!
