National Stationery Show - New York
I was lucky enough to go on another trip to America! This time it was the boss and I and 6 of his family members!
The purpose of the trip to the "Big Apple" was for the National Stationery Show held at the Javitz Centre in Manhattan (see below). Running from 19th-22nd May, and with over 700 stalls, it was by far the biggest stationery show I've ever been too.
I couldn't believe the amount of letterpress printers there are in the USA. Most of them only use handfed presses which makes me feel pretty lucky to own my own Heidelberg Platen and know how to run it. Seems to be getter smaller and smaller, the group of people that know how to run these amazing pieces of machinery.
It was so interesting to see what letterpress studios are producing over there including their range of products, prices, design and more. It was a good research trip. We gathered up plenty of ideas, samples and catalogues, enough to make our bag overweight for our trip home!
Of course, going to New York you have to do a spot of shopping, and shopping I did! My favourite shops were H & M, Forever 21 and Victoria Secret. We obviously did a bit of sightseeing while we were over there too - Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre, 911 Memorial, Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis Island, Grand Central Station, Times Square and heaps more! New York is AMAZING, I would definitely recommend everyone putting it on their bucket list.
